Georgia Southern University President welcomes you to the City of Statesboro
More than 100 years ago, the citizens of Bulloch County made the winning bid to establish a college in Statesboro. Since that time, Georgia Southern and the City of Statesboro have developed a wonderfully collaborative bond, combining the unique Southern heritage of an energetic close-knit community with higher education.
Georgia Southern is a Carnegie Doctoral/Research University offering 125 degree programs at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels through eight colleges as well as online classes and advanced degree programs. Today, more than 20,000 students from 49 states and 93 nations are enrolled at Georgia Southern, and our University is focused on teaching, research and a student-centered approach that gives us the feel of a much smaller private college.
Georgia Southern’s strength comes from our innovative partnership with the community and has helped us move forward in many areas. Over the past decade, we have experienced rapid growth, record enrollment, and an economic impact of more than $800 million annually in the region.
On behalf of Georgia Southern, I invite you to visit our beautiful campus and participate in the many athletics events and expanded community-based educational experiences we offer. The University is a destination for visitors exploring cultural programs including the Museum, the Center for Wildlife Education, the Garden of the Coastal Plain, the Performing Arts Center, the Center for Art and Theatre and other programs on campus.
Georgia Southern’s focus is on the future. We invite you to visit and be a part of it.
