East Grady from South Main Street to South Mulberry Street Sidewalk Project

Project Description

This project will consist of the construction of a 5′ sidewalk along East Grady Street from South Main Street to Mulberry Street. This section of East Grady Street crosses the Willie McTell walking trail. This project will extend the existing sidewalk from South Main Street to Mulberry Street which will provide connectivity from McTell Trail to South Main St. and S. Zetterower Avenue. This project will include any drainage infrastructures, easements and property acquisitions needed to install the sidewalk. This project will be funded by the 2018 TSPLOST.

Project Status

As of June 30, 2022 the design consultant T.R. Long has just been awarded the design contract and will be working to get the area surveyed. This will be followed by the concept design phase. Once that has been finalized acquisition of ROW and Easements will follow. Once all ROW and Easements are obtained the project will be advertised for construction.

Bulloch Street from South Main Street to South College Street Sidewalk Project

Project Description

This project will consist of the construction of a 5′ sidewalk along Bulloch Street from South Main Street to South College Street. This project will include any drainage improvements, easements and property acquisitions needed to install the sidewalk. This project is funded by the 2018 TSPLOST

Project Status

ROW acquisition is underway. Once ROW is obtained the project will be advertised for construction.

West Main Street from Ivory Street to Foss Street Sidewalk Project

Project Description

This project will consist of a 5′ sidewalk along W. Main Street from Ivory Street to Foss Street intersection. This project will extend from the existing sidewalk at Ivory St. to the sidewalk on Foss Street. This will provide sidewalk connectivity to Julia P Bryant Elementary School and adjacent neighborhoods and downtown. This project will include any drainage improvements, easements, and property acquisitions needed to install the sidewalk. It will be funded by the 2018 TSPLOST

Project Status

As of June 30, 2022 the design consultant AEI has finished surveying the project area. Coordination with all utilities within the area is beginning. Once this design phase is finalized we will work to obtain all ROW and easements for this project and move to the bidding and construction phase of the project.

East Jones Street from South Main Street to South Zetterower Street Sidewalk Project

Project Description

This project will consist of a 5′ sidewalk from S. Zetterower Ave. to S. Main St. This will be the final section of sidewalk to complete the sidewalk along the entire length of Jones Avenue from Johnson St. to Gentilly Drive. This project will include any drainage infrastructure, easements, and property acquisition needed to install the sidewalk. It will be funded by the 2018 TSPLOST.

Project Status

As of June 30, 2022 the design consultant Parker Engineering has finished surveying the project area and submitted an initial concept of the design. They are making some changes after a review and site inspection by city engineers and consultant staff. Once this design phase is finalized the city will work to obtain all ROW and easements for this project and move to the bidding and construction phase of the project.

Brannen Street from Clairborne Street to Gentilly Road Sidewalk Project

Project Description

This project proposes to construct a 5′ sidewalk along Brannen street from the existing sidewalk along Gentilly Road to Clairborne Street. It will include a crosswalk across Gentilly at Clairborne Street. This will provide connectivity between the residential neighborhoods and the YMCA and the Brannen Street commercial areas. This project is funded by the 2018 TSPLOST.

Project Status

A concept has been developed for this project. A public meeting has been held. It is proceeding to Right of Way and Easement Acquisition. Once ROW has been acquired the project will be let for construction. This is expected in Fall 2022

East Main Street from Northside Drive to Packinghouse Road Sidewalk Project

Project Description

This project consists of the design and construction of a 5′ sidewalk from the existing sidewalk at the Northside Drive /Hwy. 80 intersection of E. Main St. to the recently constructed sidewalk project at the Packinghouse and East Main intersection. This project will complete the network that connects Mill Creek Park to Statesboro High School and downtown. This project will include engineering, drainage, sidewalk easement or property acquisition needed to construct the sidewalk and related roadway improvements. It will be funded by the 2018 TSPLOST.

Project Status

As of June 30, 2022 the design consultant AEI has finished surveying the project area. They have addressed comments from the city engineering review. The project team is coordinating with GDOT and City utilities to evaluate improving an existing storm culvert under East Main Street. A public meeting will be held to receive input from the public on the proposed concept. Once this design phase is finalized work will begin to obtain all ROW and easements for this project and move to the bidding and construction phase of the project.

Gentilly Road from East Jones Avenue to Savannah Avenue Sidewalk Project

Project Description

This project will construct a 5 ‘ sidewalk from the existing sidewalk on Gentilly Road at East Jones Avenue to the existing sidewalk on Savannah Avenue. This project is Phase II of Gentilly Rd. sidewalk project. This will create a sidewalk connection from Georgia Southern University to Savannah Avenue and with the commercial areas on Brannen Street. This project will be funded with 2018 TSPLOST.

Project Status

As of June 30, 2022 the design consultant Parker Engineering has finished conceptual design and is working towards finalization of easements and ROW acquisition where necessary. Project is expected to be bid later this fall.

Packing House and East Main Street Sidewalk Project

Project Description

This project constructed a 5′ sidewalk along the length of Packinghouse Road then along East Main Street from Packinghouse Road to Coach Lee Hill Boulevard. It included construction of a Rapid Flashing Beacon Crosswalk on East Main Street just east of Packinghouse Road. This project connected the residential areas of Packinghouse Road with the existing sidewalk on Coach Lee Hill Boulevard which provides connection to Statesboro High School and the commercial areas of Northside Drive. This was funded with the 2018 TSPLOST.

Project Status

Project Completed in April 2021.

West Jones Street from South Main Street to Johnson Street Sidewalk Project

Project Description

This project constructed a 5′ sidewalk from South Main Street to Johnson Street. It provides a connection from the residential neighborhoods of the area to the commercial district on South Main Street. It was funded by the 2018 TSPLOST.

Project Status

The project was completed in February 2021.

Herty Drive from Gentilly Road to Fair Road Sidewalk Project

Project Description

This project constructed a 5′ sidewalk on Herty Drive from Fair Road to Gentilly Road. It included construction of a crosswalk across Gentilly Road to connect to the existing sidewalk along Gentilly Road. This project connected Georgia Southern University to the residential neighborhoods around Gentilly. This allowed access to Shelby Park, the S&S railroad trail, and the commercial district along Brannen Street. This project was funded by the 2018 TSPLOST.

South Edgewood Drive from Gentilly Road to Rowand Street Sidewalk Project Including Shelby Park Bridge

Project Description

This project constructed a 5′ sidewalk along South Edgewood Drive from the existing sidewalk on Gentilly Road to Shelby Park just past Rowand Street. It included a 2′ red stamped concrete strip between the street and sidewalk. It also included construction of a wooden timber bridge over the pond in Shelby Park. This project was funded by the 2018 TSPLOST
