Office of the City Manager

The City Manager is appointed by the Mayor and City Council to serve as the Chief Administrative Officer of the City. The City Manager presides over the daily operation and administration of the local government within the guidelines of City of Statesboro ordinances, policies, and procedures; state and federal laws; and implements directives from the Mayor and City Council.

City Manager Biography

Randy Wetmore was appointed City Manager of Statesboro in September of 2016. Before coming to Statesboro, Mr. Wetmore served six years as the City Administrator of Marshalltown, Iowa. He has been in the city management profession for 37 years and has worked in a number of cities and states.

Randy graduated from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas with a Bachelor of Science degree. He also attended the University of Kansas where he received a Master’s in Public Administration. Randy and his wife Andrea live in the City of Statesboro.

Deputy City Manager

The Deputy City Manager provides direct support to the City Manager with city-wide administration support.

Deputy City Manager Biography

Robert Cheshire, P.E. was appointed as Deputy City Manager in September 2016. He has worked for the City of Statesboro for 21 years; 19 years as the City Engineer and served a little over a year and a half as the Interim City Manager. Before joining the City of Statesboro, he worked in the Consulting Engineering field for 10 years.   A 1985 graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Agricultural Engineering, he is married to Lee Cheshire with two grown children.
