West Main Street Drainage Improvements

Project Description

This project proposes to replace the existing storm water system on West Main Street from College Street to the canal at Johnson Street. The existing pipe is in poor condition and does not adequately handle flows during severe storms. The existing pipe and the proposed replacement are in the roadway so after construction of the pipe the roadway would be resurfaced. Construction impacts would require replacement of sections of the existing curb and gutter and sidewalk. This project is proposed to be funded by the 2018 TSPLOST

Project Status

Plans were completed and this project was advertised for construction in August 2020. Due to the complex traffic control needed to close this section of roadway for construction, the bids received greatly exceeded the budgeted amount. This project was moved to the Fiscal Year 2023 budget and additional funds were budgeted. It will be re-advertised for construction this fall.
