Tammy Rushing

Tammy Rushing is the administrative assistant for Public Works. After graduating from Metter High School, Tammy worked for Pleasant View Health Care and then the City of Metter. In July of 1992, she began her long-term placement at the City of Statesboro. After nearly 20 years with the City of Statesboro, Tammy says she enjoys the people she works with and the different daily challenges she faces with the growth of the city. Ms. Rushing knows the importance of her position. She feels that, “when dealing with internal and external customers, you need someone who understands and values the importance of effective and courteous communication.”

Anthony Ursillo

Anthony Ursillo currently serves as the City’s Senior Accounting/Payroll Technician. Anthony studied Accounting at SUNY Canton and at Clarkson University. He is currently in the process of earning his Masters in Accounting at Georgia Southern University. He enjoys working at the City of Statesboro because of the opportunities to meet and interact with many different people. “I like the progressiveness embraced by our department as well as the City.” Anthony feels that his job is important because he ensures that employees are accurately compensated in a timely manner.

Merritt Kearns

Merritt Kearns currently serves as Captain at the Statesboro Fire Department. He obtained his Bachelors of Arts in Biology at Rutgers University, his masters of Education at Georgia Southern University, and his Associates of Arts in Fire Science at West Georgia Technical College. Before joining the City of Statesboro Fire Department, Mr. Kearns taught high school classes, worked at Georgia Southern University and Ogeechee Technical College. Prior to working in Statesboro, he was a member of the Savannah Fire Department. “I enjoy working with a dedicated team of fire service professionals who work in cooperation with other public safety agencies to make Statesboro a safe place to live and work,” says Mr. Kearns of his experience working at the City of Statesboro. He says he enjoys his job because no two days are the same and he has the chance to be involved at the ground-level on projects that would not be possible in a larger city.

Marcos Trejo

Marcos Trejo began working at the City of Statesboro as an Engineer in 2009. Before that, he earned his Associates of Science in Pre-Engineering at Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College, and his Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering Technology at Georgia Southern University. He enjoys working for the City because he gets the opportunity to improve the community by making our local roads efficient and safer. Mr. Trejo recognizes the importance of his position. He says, “As the number of vehicles on our street grows new problems begin to appear, from congestions to safety. I these issues are not addressed, then problems like travel times, crashes, delays at intersections, and road deterioration begin to increase.”
