Sunday, February 1 Update–
City Hall and other administrative offices will delay opening until 10 a.m. in the morning.
Waste Collection– Residential waste collection will be delayed by one day this week.
Statesboro Area Transit– Service will begin at noon on February 2nd.
Statesboro Landfill– Will open at 10:00 a.m. on February 2nd.Friday, January 30 Update– Mayor Jonathan McCollar issued a local state of emergency for the City of Statesboro on Friday, January 30th at 4:00 p.m. ahead of the winter storm expected this weekend. This is a standard step that helps the City be prepared and respond quickly if conditions worsen.
Unseasonably cold temperatures are expected through Monday, with wind chills possibly feeling like the single digits. Snow is expected to reach the northern part of Bulloch County late Saturday morning into early afternoon (around 11 AM–noon), with forecasts indicating between 1 to 3 inches of accumulation.
Warming Shelters
Trinity Episcopal Church (4401 Country Club Road) will open an overnight warming center starting Friday at 8 p.m. and running through Monday for anyone needing a warm place to stay.
School Closures
Bulloch County Schools-
Bulloch County Schools has announced that all schools and offices will be closed on Monday, February 2, due to weather conditions. The district will provide additional updates on Monday regarding Tuesday’s schedule.
Georgia Southern University-
Georgia Southern University will move to reduced operations on Saturday, Jan. 31 and Sunday, Feb. 1.Only essential personnel should be on campus on Saturday, Jan. 31 and Sunday, Feb. 1.
University-sponsored events and athletic events on all campuses are canceled on Saturday, Jan. 31 and Sunday, Feb. 1.
Housing on all campuses will remain open. Students living on campus are encouraged to shelter in place in their residence halls on Saturday, Jan. 31 and Sunday, Feb. 1.

Preventing Frozen Pipes:
- Seal cracks and holes properly
- Use heating tape to prevent freezing.
- Keep the heat in your home at a minimum of 55 degrees Fahrenheight
- All your faucets to drip overnight to relieve pressure
- Insulate pipes that are located in cold, drafty places inside the home
- Disconnect all outside hoses
