Office of Statesboro’s City Clerk

Customer Service & Utility Billing Department

  • Consisting of four Customer Service Clerks and one Billing Clerk, this department bills and collects over 15,000 utility accounts each month. With cooperation from the public, the City of Statesboro’s Customer Service & Utility Billing Department maintains a high level of efficiency and is open to any and all questions, comments, and concerns from our Statesboro citizens.

City Tax & Business License Department

  • The City Tax & Business License Department bills and collects property taxes. The Tax Clerk also issues Business Licenses, Alcohol Licenses, Occupation Tax Certificates, Taxi Driver Permits, as well as Special Event Permits.

Records Department

  • The Records Department oversees the retention of the city’s documents, ledgers, minutes, and associated items. In accordance with the Georgia Open Records Act, copies of all public records are available through the City Clerk’s Office by completing a request for Open Records and submitting it to the City Clerk who serves as the Open Records Officer. Pursuant to the City’s Open Records Ordinance, no request shall be deemed filed until served upon the Open Records Officer, either by hand delivery to the Officer at City Hall; 50 East Main Street, Statesboro, Georgia, 30458; by certified United States mail to Open Records Officer, P.O. Box 348, Statesboro, Georgia 30459, return receipt requested; by statutory overnight delivery to 50 East Main Street, Statesboro, Georgia, 30458; by email to openrecordsofficer@statesboroga.gov, or by facsimile transmission to 912-764-8258.

Office of the City Clerk

  • Statesboro’s City Clerk preserves and provides public access to the City’s official and historical records, provides support to the Mayor & City Council, and facilitates the City’s overall legislative process. The City Clerk also serves as Election Superintendent for Municipal Elections and qualifies all municipal candidates. The City Clerk records Ordinances and Resolutions, as well as City Council related-materials such as Agendas & Minutes. Statesboro’s City Clerk diligently ensures all departments work together to offer the best possible service to the City of Statesboro.
